City offers “Libreng-Sakay” to tourist destinations

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION – The City Government of San Fernando led by Mayor Pablo C. Ortega, through the City Information and Tourism Section conducted the “Libreng-Sakay” (free ride) daily to La Union Botanical Garden (LUBG) and La Union Science Centrum and Museum (LUSCM) from April 21 to May 31, 2014.

Libreng-Sakay, is a project of the city which aims to promote the LUBG and LUSCM by providing free rides to visitors and tourists during the summer.

“Ngayon lang po ako nakapunta dito sa Botanical Garden, maganda po pala ang tanawin (It’s my first time to come here at the Botanical Garden, the scenery is beautiful). It is a great place for unwinding and relaxation,” says Trisha Mae Pasion, a student who availed of the service and lives in Brgy. Pagdaraoan, this city.

“The city should continue to conduct the free ride because it makes the destinations in Brgy. Cadaclan accessible,” said Airwind Bautista, Tourism Council assistant treasurer, “the Science Centrum is an excellent venue for students to learn science and technology, I highly recommend it,” he added.

The free ride catered to a total of 726 tourists comprising of residents and non-residents from nearby towns and provinces of the city.

Four trips were scheduled daily from Mondays to Sundays starting at 9:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.

This will be a continuing program of the city in the months of April and May where visitors and tourists are on vacation. (By: Anne Hazel F. Flores-City Media Bureau)
