Registered nurses and students in Ilocos Norte have the opportunity to gain work experience and earn an income through the Provincial Government’s “Saguip Nars” and summer job programs.

Both programs are headed by the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) at the western wing of the Provincial Capitol, Laoag City.

“Saguip Nars,” launched in November 2014 under Governor Imee R. Marcos’ “Task Force Trabaho,” allows entry-level nurses to gain the job experience needed for them to apply for work overseas or for higher hospital positions.

They are deployed for six months throughout provincial hospitals and given financial incentives, as opposed to non-Saguip Nars volunteer work which provides no income for entry-level nurses.

According to PESO Officer in Charge Ann Marie Lizette Bitancor, past beneficiaries of the program may still apply as long as the deployment periods are not consecutive.

Interested applicants should submit their resumes to PESO before April 28.
Upcoming deployment is from June to December 2017.

Meanwhile, slots are still open for the second batch of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), which began in 2013 and handles three batches of beneficiaries per year.

The program accepts applicants aged 15 to 25 who will be deployed throughout the Capitol, municipal offices, and other government units in Ilocos Norte.

The first batch will already be undergoing orientation on April 24 and deployed on May 2.

A total of 300 youth are needed for the second batch, to begin work in June, while the year’s third batch is scheduled for December to coincide with students’ vacation periods.━Mizpah Grace G. Castro, PGIN-CMO
